REBEL EXHIBITION AT MOCA IN LOS ANGELES
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years (or maybe just outside of Los Angeles), James Franco has been dabbling in the contemporary art scene. “Rebel” is his latest concoction, and also the latest exhibit to get the Hollywood artsy crowd excited to go to the Museum of Contemporary Art. The UCLA-alum, actor, author, and conceptual artist has teamed up with Douglas Gordon, Harmony Korine, Damon McCarthy, Paul McCarthy, Terry Richardson, Aaron Young and even Ed Ruscha to create a collaborative nod to Nicholas Ray’s Rebel Without A Cause, starring James Dean. The exhibition will be full of appropriations of the film’s content through video, photography, painting, drawing and sculpture.
“Rebel” is produced by Commonwealth Projects and presented by Gucci, as well as Seven For All Mankind and Samsung, and will open at contemporary design space JF Chen on May 15 - make sure to RSVP today! - and will stay open until June 23rd. Details below.
