BRUCE DAVIDSON CAPTURES LOS ANGELES NATURE IN THE CITY
“Wonderfully absurd” - a phrase that should be used to describe Los Angeles in nearly all circumstances. That circumstance for Bruce Davidson involves falling in love with a palm tree (a situation that calls for a head examination, the photographer claims) as part of his series focusing on the beautiful trees that carve their way into the city’s concrete.
Nature will adapt, and it will find a way to inspire us amidst the drab of grays that fill our sight as we go about our lives, insofar as to creep along the underside of our superhighways with ivy branches. Davidson’s photography often finds inspiration in gloom, but the opposite is the focus of his latest series, which takes Los Angeles’ persistent nature and captures it in its most character-defining locations.
