Last week witnessed The New York Times’ tribute to writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, whose passing was a recent tragedy. Their latest Op-Art feature, “Thanks, Maurice,” honors the artist who forever changed the landscape of illustration, authoring toward children, and design in general through his original style of writing and drawing. The tribute features the seven works above by Marc Rosenthal, Art Spiegelman, Gary Taxali, Tomi Ungerer, Geoff McFetridge, Bob Staake and Jon Klassen.
