JEFF KOONS AT FONDATION BEYELER IN SWITZERLAND
The first Swiss art institution to present an exhibition consisting solely of contemporary American artist Jeff Koons, fondation beyeler is a museum that has taken the scale of his multiple series’ as one of the more important elements of his work. Three collections - titled ’the new’, ‘banality’ and ‘celebration’ - fill the museum’s floor and tower over viewers with both baroque-inspired explorations of childhood innocence and conceptual, consumerist-targeted explorations of man’s relationship to the rest of the animal kingdom. Genre-defining works in wood and porcelain also greet viewers, such as the sculpture of Michael Jackson and his pet ape Bubbles that helped the artist soar to stardom. Check out details for the show below if you can get to Switzerland to see it.
