MASAAKI YUASA’S “KICK-HEART”
After the encoding fiasco that pushed our Kickstarter campaign back a week, we spent a good amount of time looking through compelling projects, many of which are staff picks with awesome rewards. One of the most compelling we have found is the story of a masochist male wrestler and nun lady wrestler. Kick-Heart looks like a collision between Aeon Flux, Powerpuff Girls, and the work of Dutch illustrator Parra, but it is animated in a very unique style characteristic to Yuasa’s other work.
The lead animator at Production I.G. states that his focus on visually compelling animation has forced story to take a back seat, but this interesting story which is very near its goal looks to be just what fans have been seeking from his work.
